Alice is a PhD student in the Economics department at UC Berkeley. Her research interests lie at the intersection of environment and economic geography. She is particularly interested in using spatial equilibrium models to understand changes in land use. Before starting at Berkeley, Alice worked as a research assistant at the Energy Policy Institute at the University of Chicago.

Cerrato is a PhD candidate in the Department of Economics. He is interested in economic geography, macroeconomics and labor economics. Prior to coming to UC Berkeley, he studied at Bocconi University and the London School of Economics and worked as a Research Assistant at Chicago Booth.

Ari Ball-Burack is a PhD student in the Energy and Resources Group, advised by Dr. Dan Kammen. His research focuses on decarbonization policy; specifically, he is interested in incorporating key complexities such as technological innovation, human behavior, and political economy into data-driven policy decision support tools. His current projects investigate the employment and macroeconomic impacts of the green energy transition, decarbonization policy interactions at the national and global levels, distributional equity in electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and representations of consumer adoption in multi-sector energy system models.

Caleb Wroblewski is a PhD student in Economics at U.C. Berkeley. His research interests are in macroeconomics, public finance, and labor markets. Before coming to Berkeley, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Chicago.

Charoo Anand

Charoo Anand

Charoo is an Economics PhD candidate at UC Berkeley. She is interested in segregation and inequality and, in particular, the historical institutions that shaped them. Her current research focuses on how US Interstate highways affected racial segregation. Charoo received her Bachelor's from LSE and, prior to joining Berkeley, worked as a research assistant at their Centre for Economic Performance.

Chiara is a Ph.D. student at the Haas School of Business. She works on topics at the intersection of labor economics, industrial organization, and spatial economics. Her current research employs quantitative models to assess the impact of government policies on labor markets. Chiara holds both a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. in Economics from Bocconi University.

Felipe is a Ph.D. candidate in the Economics Department at UC Berkeley, with research interests in public and labor economics. Prior to beginning his Ph.D., Felipe worked as an economist for the Brazilian federal government, concentrating on tax policies.

Hikari Murayama

Hikari Murayama is a PhD Candidate in the Energy and Resources Group. Her research combines remote sensing and machine learning to understand the carbon budget. This work spans the past and present: she is quantifying land cover changes in Africa using historical aerial photos and using modern-day satellites to study emissions from power plants.

Isabel is a PhD Candidate in the Economics department interested in spatial and development economics. Many of Isabel’s projects also intersect with gender economics, aiming to provide evidence-based solutions to incorporate women in the labor markets of rapidly growing cities.

Ini Umosen is a PhD Candidate in the Economics department at UC Berkeley with research interests in the economics of education and place-based policies. She has previously been a research affiliate at the RAND Corporation, the California Policy Lab, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. She received undergraduate degrees in economics and statistics from Case Western Reserve University.

His current research agenda focuses on the evaluation of public policy with a special interest in its impact on education outcomes. Before coming to UC Berkeley, he studied at PUC in Chile.

Kendra is particularly interested in understanding how political institutions affect the advancement of environmental policy.

Paula Meloni is a PhD candidate in the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics at UC Berkeley. Her research interests are in industrial organization,  environment and urban economics. Before starting at Berkeley, Paula worked at the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy Research at MIT and the World Bank.

Raheem Chaudhry is a PhD student at the Goldman School of Public Policy. His research considers the role of public policy in inhibiting or improving access to opportunity for low-income communities and communities of color. Previously, he was a Research Associate at the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where he studied the relationship between federal fiscal policy and trends in income and poverty.

Ruth Kravis received her B.S degree in Systems Engineering from the Australian National University in 2021. She commenced her PhD in EECS at UC Berkeley in 2022. Ruth is interested in how the integration of renewable resources affects everything from grid stability to market operations and long-planning.

Sayantan (Sunny) is a PhD candidate in the Department of Agricultural & Resource Economics, with research interests that lie at the intersection of development, environmental and agricultural economics. Previously, Sunny worked as a Research Associate in India for Evidence for Policy Design at Harvard Kennedy School and received his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from the College of Wooster.

Steve Ramos

Steve Ramos

Steve Ramos is a PhD Candidate in the Economics Department at UC Berkeley At CPL, His research interests are in labor economics, household finance, and the economics of education. Prior to his doctoral studies, Steve was a Senior Research Assistant at the Federal Reserve Board of Governors in the Consumer Finance section, where he utilized credit bureau records to monitor developments in U.S. consumer credit and conduct empirical research. He graduated from Miami University in 2017 with degrees in Business Economics and Mathematics.
